Today, The Cable TV Industry stands to lose 3 of it’s top Websites & Domain names.

A career CATV Lineman, who started with just a resume online in 1999, has put together several of the industry’s top websites.

Lineman/Webmaster, Dave ‘SprDave” Randall, has decided to spend more time on his family and his Field Engineering Company and set aside the Near-Full Time hobby of Web Design for the Cable TV Industry.

When asked “Why?” SprDave’s response was; “It’s time. I’ll still play around a bit with my personal sites, but the full-blown Content Management Systems just demand more time than I have right now.

I started Climbing in 1986. Flatbeds, Swizzle Sticks, no shirts. It was pretty wild back then. And so were we! There are not many places on the internet where Ole LineDawgs like us can get together, exchange information, stories, find old friends and generally have a comfortable place to shoot the…….breeze. :::wink:::

I’m hoping that someone who has more time and design talent than myself can pick up the domain names and the sites and do alot more with then than I’m able to at this time.

A lot of folks in the Cable TV Industry have been asking me for the better part of 10 years to come up with an alterative to the very few forums and Cable Communities that are being offered today.

CATVToday.com my answer to that call. Along with CATVJobs.com & CATVWork.com, I had hoped to fill that void.

As everyone knows, the economy has been difficult, to say the least, on many of us in the Cable Biz .That, to a large degree, is what has me going back out on the road to my next project.”

Who will take up where SprDave is leaving off?? That depends on what, if anything, happens to the existing websites and domain names that SprDave has spent the last 10 years envisioning.

After Sony gave us the now famous Xperia S, now comes the new Xperia handset called Sola. So what is new about this Sony branded handset? Let me tell you about it and just read on.

Sony made the Sola with the new “floating touch” touch screen interface. Sony explained this new technology on the Sola. The floating touch will allow you to easily control a cursor without touching the phone’s screen at all. Magic? Not really. Basically you let your finger hover over the phone’s panel to do the trick. It will then move the phone’s cursor and select a link. All you have to do after that is to simply tap to launch whatever it is that you want to open or access. This may be quite hard for first timers on this touch screen interface, but with a lot of practice you will get the hang of it.

Sony’s research engineer said that mutual capacitance is used on this handset. This is basically used on most touch screens of today. But the thing is Sola’s screen is quite different. This is because its mutual capacitance sensor picks up physical touch, and it uses a separate self capacitance sensor to pick up signals of up to 22mm away from the phone’s screen.

What else can this handset offer you? Well, it is an NFC-enabled handset (just like new handsets of today). With it, you will be able to allow and trigger actions on your handset things like toggling your Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. All you have to do is to touch an NFC- compatible device or tag and you’re good to go. A good example of this is an associated tag for your Bluetooth. As early as now, Benchmarks are now out pitting its performance against famous chipsets of today.

It was quite obvious that Huawei was happy to tell the world about their latest offering and dubbing them as “the World’s fastest”.
