It’s about so much more than just the clothes.”

“Manufacturing locally means we are able to inspect the whole production process and ensure that every worker is treated with dignity. We were very careful when choosing which sewing contractors to work with and can proudly say that the sewers creating our garments earn well above minimum wage, have set working hours like any other employee, and work in rooms with plenty of light and under strict health and safety standards. Nothing like the horror sweatshop stories you see in documentaries. Our sewers love what they do, they take pride in what they create and this is reflected in the quality of their work and the care that goes into each garment. We are proud that we are able to support our local community by manufacturing locally.”

Vintage Me Up is fully licensed for garment production and holds a registration with the state of California’s Department of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), which in simple words means that the state certifies that their manufacturing is done in fair, sweatshop-free conditions.

Why vintage-inspired?

Christina answers that: “I’ve always had a passion for vintage fashion and the golden era of couture of the mid 20^th century. It had always fascinated me how the fashion of those times made every woman, regardless of her body type, look so feminine and beautiful. Those styles were so clever in accentuating all the right parts in a woman’s body. For years I would read, search online, draw sketches, and style old clothes into vintage-inspired frocks. And my love for swing dancing and those cute swing dresses just made my interest grow. I was so into it that when Carl and I got married, our wedding was themed after the 1950s and I designed my own wedding dress and had it made by a great seamstress. This is where it all started becoming more serious, and by that time Carl was very drawn into it too. So we decided to give it a shot and make our passion into fashion.
