What symptoms and what consequences?

- Symptoms “visible” are related to balance disorders and difficulties in coordination of movement:

? A staggering gait (called pseudo-headedness) with frequent falls. The arms are spaced apart for balance. The start is delayed and the case is uncertain. U-turns are dangerous. In severe cases, sitting and holding the head are disrupted.

? Easily controlled movements: initiation of movement is delayed while the movement itself is slower, its amplitude is exaggerated but keeps its direction. The fine and precise movements are clumsy. Motor coordination is poor. Thus there are also other symptoms including speech. This is punctuated, explosive and poorly articulated. The speech is slowed and delayed in its initiation. At worst, the disorder can affect any verbal communication.

The adjustment disorder requires automatic gesture, to counter this deficit, a permanent concentration in order to adapt the act or speech. Walking, running a gesture, writing, speaking, require a major effort to adapt and concentration, resulting in a high fatigability.

- Other symptoms may occur:? Swallowing disorder.

? Action tremor during a voluntary gesture.

? Disorders of eye movements, a hypermetria, a limited eye tracking, etc..

? On a limb: often scoliosis and cavus.

Action Care, the organizing partner for the Campaign, supports a number of educational development and aids project in early childhood development, women’s empowerment, youth leadership and vocational training in conjunction with Al Ishan Charity Center one of the campaign recipient’s.

The other selected recipient is Al Noor Training Centre which serves children with special needs from different nationalities providing up to 300 children professional training and care to realize their potential and integrate into the wider community.

The children participated in role plays on Ramadan themes such as; Being Thankful, Taking initiative, Developing a Caring Heart and Overcoming selfishness which added a special touch to the evening.
