Images in Press Releases
There is a picture to the right of a press release containing images.
(This press release can be seen live on the web here.)
It’s been often said that “a picture is worth a thousand words” – including images in your press releases is obviously a helpful aid in keeping the reader engaged and better-informed. There are added benefits, also.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Benefits
Folks often forget just how much web traffic is generated from visitors who are doing searches for images (we get up to 30% of our traffic this way). It’s pretty well proven that a properly tagged image on your webpage will often work to obtain extra traffic to the page. FreePressReleases.com tags your press release images automatically, to help you obtain more traffic. Here’s how our tagging works;
The “title” tag for the image is copied from the name of the image file. (A good idea is for you to re-name your image, such as “logo.jpg” to a name with more meaning pertinent to your press release, before including it in your FreePressReleases.com press release.) For example, the upper image in the pictured press release is named “2009-Powersport-Safe-Ride.jpg”, and the”title tag” for this image is “2009-Powersport-Safe-Ride”.
The “alt” tag for the press release’s image is copied from both the filename of the image along with the headline of your press release. The upper image in the press release pictured above, the “alt tag” is “2009 Powersport Safe Ride Performance Electric Vehicles Now Equipped with Safe Ride(TM) Technology”.
You want your press release to attract all the traffic possible, and tagging images intelligently is an important step towards that goal.
Video in Press Releases
We said that a picture is worth a thousand words; if that’s true, then videos should be worth much more, related to the engagement of your visitors. Here is a press release with an embedded video from YouTube. Most popular video sharing websites provide “embed codes” which can be copied and then pasted into the source code of your press release.
