At FreePressReleases.com, we enable every user to include anchor text in their press releases’ outbound links, without limit.

Anchor Text, What Is It?

The most typical link you see on the web is simply a website address, such as http://www.FreePressReleases.com.  An “anchor text” link could appear like this: Free Online Press Release Distribution. No matter which of these links you might click, you’ll find that they are each linked to the same place (this website).  The second link above, where the text (Free Online Press Release Distribution) is different than destination (FreePressReleases.com), such a link is called “anchor text”.  In the press release pictured at right, the text we’ve circled is an example of anchor text.

What Good Does Anchor Text Do?

It’s common knowledge that if you have a large number and variety of links pointing back to your website from other sites around the web, that this is good way to get traffic to your website from visitors who arrive after clicking on a link to it. In that manner, virtually any link pointing back to your site is a positive for you.  However, an anchor text link gives the search engine much more detailed information about the subject and meaning of your web page.  The author of the example press release above created an anchor text link using the phrase “long-term care insurance sales” as anchor text.  This is done to attempt to improve the search engine ranking for visitors who are searching for that keyword phrase.
